
Our History
Jaques and Partners Legal Practitioners is one of the oldest Law Firms in Zambia, established on 2nd July 1970. The Firm has had a proud tradition of serving both corporate and individual clients. The Firm was established with a mission to serve its clients efficiently, diligently, and professionally whilst maintaining strict confidentiality. Many legal luminaries have at one time worked for or with the Firm, notably among these are the first indigenous Zambian Partners namely Mr Damson Katongo (Late), Mr Laban Lubamba (Late), Mr Steven Malama (Late) and His Excellency Mr Levy Patrick Mwanawasa (Late).
The Firm had been dormant between 2017 and 2020 but resumed operations on 1st September 2020 after its acquisition by the current Managing Partner Mr Kafula Mwiche. The Jaques & Partners team is led by two Partners Mr. Kafula Mwiche and Mr Mutule Bwembya Museba with a combined experience of over forty (40) years.
Jaques and Partners Established

Many legal luminaries have at one time worked for Jaques and Partners, notably among them are the Late Third Republican President Mr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa SC; the first indigenous Zambian Partners namely Mr. Damson Katongo (Late), Mr. Laban Lubamba (Late), and Mr. Steven Malama SC (Late). Jaques and Partners has had a rich history of advising and acting as legal advisor on a few notable transactions in the Zambian economy.
Death of Last Partner
However, the Firm was dormant for a few years following the death of its last Partner in 2018 and was only revived in 2020 following its acquisition by Mr. Kafula Mwiche, the current Managing Partner.
Acquisition and Branding
The Firm was revived in 2020 following its acquisition by Mr. Kafula Mwiche, the current Managing Partner. The Firm thus reopened its doors and rebranded to Jaques and Partners Legal Practitioners on 1 August 2020.
